Highlights

  • 1920-1926: The temple was constructed by Smt. K. Rajyalaxmamma Garu along with her husband’s uncle’s son, Sri K. Telagaraju, and his sons, Sri K. Chakrapaani Rao and K. Pundarikakshudu, entirely with their own funds.

  • 23 June 1926: The temple was inaugurated with the installation of the idols of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and Sri Anjaneya Swamy.

  • Land Donation: To ensure the ongoing daily services at the temple, 10 acres and 41.5 cents of land in nearby villages were donated.

  • Management Tradition: It was decreed that the temple’s managing trustees should always be members of the Kalavagunta family.

  • Past Management:

    • Smt. K. Rajyalaxmamma Garu (1926-1974)

    • Sri K.V.S.S. Kesava Rao (1975-1996)

    • Sri K. Telagaraju (1996-2009)

  • Funding for Repairs and Development: All temple repairs and development over the years have been funded exclusively by the Kalavagunta families.

  • Sri K. Telagaraju's Demise: Sri K. Telagaraju passed away on 19 September 2009 at the age of 89.

  • Current Management: Lt Col K.P. Rao (Retd) is overseeing temple affairs. As there was no formal handover process, efforts are currently underway to consolidate temple properties, strengthen its financial stability, and further improve the temple.

Current Projects

Phase 1: Ongoing Development and Renovation

  1. Establishing a Trust: Creating a trust to make the temple financially self-sustaining.

  2. Land Consolidation: Resurveying temple lands and constructing boundary pillars to secure the property.

  3. Compound Wall Construction: Building a wall around the adjoining temple area for security.

  4. Kalyana Mandapam Construction: Developing a marriage hall, including leveling the area, paving with stone slabs, building a raised platform with overhead cover, and constructing two rooms with attached restrooms.

  5. Temple Paving: Paving the area around the main temple with durable stone slabs.

  6. Basic Amenities: Providing foot-washing stations and restrooms for men and women.

  7. Yagnashala Renovation: Urgently repairing and renovating the old yagnashala, storeroom, and archaka’s (priest’s) quarters.

  8. Rajyalaxmamma Garu’s House: Replacing the thatched roof, constructing a guest house with two rooms and a kitchenette, repairing the compound wall, and building a room for a free Ayurveda clinic and a prayer/meditation room.

  9. Kalavagunta Clan Family Tree: Creating a comprehensive family tree of the Kalavagunta clan to document the temple’s rich history and lineage, preserving it for future generations

Phase 2: Future Projects

  1. Children's Park: Constructing a park in Chennuru village for children’s recreation.

  2. Coconut Tree Plantation: Planting coconut trees around the temple and its lands for beautification.

  3. Scholarships: Offering scholarships to deserving and meritorious children in honor of Smt. K. Rajyalaxmamma Garu.

  4. Flower Garden: Developing a flower garden around the temple to enhance the spiritual atmosphere.
